Family Ride

We went out near Florence Junction to ride with my family, my sister and her family, and my riding buddy (my wife's cousin) and his family. Garrett, our two year old, couldn't get enough and I finally had to rig some reins to make that possible and safe enough. The boys took their turns around and around the track Uncle Bob set up. Then they had fun with the cousins and nature that surrounded them. Garrett still hadn't had enough, can you blame him... so I gave him a ride on my bike too.

FLAT!!

So, when I went riding on the 25th out at Florence, we were coming down the Main road to the staging area. My Riding partner was on his DRZ400S, geared to the moon. I tried keeping up with him on my YZ. Ive only been able to log about 74mph on the bike, but it is geared pretty low. As I'm hauling down the road, the back end starts to feel funny, and push a bit. Sure enough...Ive got a Flat. I think to myself, that's odd, I didn't hit any rocks, I couldn't have pinch flatted...

I nurse it back to the truck, and finally got a chance to look at it Saturday. Wouldn't you know it, I picked up a nail somewhere... How is it that nails always know where to seat themselves? I mean, look at it...Right in the middle of the tire, right between 2 knobs..

I pulled out the pliers to remove the nail so I could pull off the tire, and see what the damage was to my Moose Heavy Duty Tubes. I kept pulling and pulling. It was the never ending nail.

By now, I'm thinking, "where in the heck did I get this? I don't remember any boards, its a dirt road...how odd. I'm sure my tube is destroyed after running for 5 miles on this flat tire with a 3 inch nail inside the tube.

Sure enough, when I get the tire, and tube out, the tube has 6 holes in it, from the nail continually puncturing the tube... Its time to go to MAS to get a tube. The tire is toast too. I got it used from a buddy, and it has served me well. I have a new one. Ill mount it up, and I'll be ready to go out again tomorrow afternoon.....

A little taste of Singletrack

One of my Buddies and Fellow Rockstars member, has a new Helmet Cam. Here is a short vid of him on one of the trails we ride called sycamore springs. Its pretty smooth and flowy. You can see some pretty deep ruts in parts, and at the end, he almost runs into another club member coming the other direction.

Yearly Update

So...Its been over a year since my last post. I started this blog as a means to keep track of my Personal Riding, and thoughts. Since Maria started her blog, I thought I'd update my own. Her blog will continue to follow the family, where as I will talk only of things outdoors, moto-driven amd adventurous.

I haven't been riding much, and neither have the boys. Earlier this summer, Wills PW80 was stolen from our shed...they didnt take anything else, just his bike. Must be a teenager...

Elena (YZ 250) has a flat tire...

If I didnt know how, or wasnt too cheap, id take them all somewhere to get fixed...but since I do all of my own work, that also has to compete for my time.

In July we bought a Motorhome from a fellow Rockstar. It is a 1992 31 foot Bounder. We took it to Eastern AZ to Saffel Canyon for the Annual Rockstars MC Camp-n-Ride. We had a blast. It rained every afternoon, the bikes were all a mess, but we stayed Hi and Dri in our new Home on wheels.

Since then, Ive been to Grinding Stone MX Track, and have spent a little time out in Florence scouting the area for our Stake Pioneer Trek that is happening in January. Follow along on my Ride List to see where, when and How Far Ive been...
